Milngavie Choir Committee 2010-2011

President: Jacqui MacRae

Jacqui chairs committee meetings, introduces our concerts, and is one of the main contacts for people wanting to find out about the choir or join us.

Vice-President: Maria Finnerty

Maria helps Jacqui. She is ready to stand by in Jacqui's absence and to step into her shoes as President once she reaches the end of her term of office.

Secretary: Jackie Gulstad

Jackie (top) deals with choir correspondence, does the agenda for committee meetings, arranges all the hall bookings, does a power of organisation and tries to keep us all in order.

Mary Brailey helps Jackie by taking the committee minutes, and administers our website, our online shop and email contact with choir members.

Treasurer: Ian Brown

Ian takes in subscription money and funds raised, writes the cheques, makes grant applications, keeps the books and generally makes sure we stay solvent.

Section reps: Elaine Miller (sopranos, top left); Marian Mead (tenors, bottom left) and Don Spaeth (basses)

There is a vacancy for alto rep

Publicity Rep: Alistair Ramage

Alistair deals with all the publicity for the choir. He publicises our concerts and other activities and generally makes sure people know about the choir and what we're doing.

Making Music Scotland rep

There is a vacancy for MMS rep. The rep acts as our channel of communication with Making Music Scotland, which (among many other things) provides us with a grant each year.

Librarian: Carol Maitland

Carol does a sterling job of obtaining music for rehearsals and performances - sometimes at short notice. Some of the music is already in the choir's own library: otherwise she downloads it from authorised websites, hires it or buys it. She also gets discount by bulk-buying music or training CDs for choir members who want their own copies.

Tea Convenor: Chris Mackay

Although choir members (ladies only - who says we've got equality?) take it in turns to serve tea at the interval in rehearsals, it is Chris who provides the supplies, and sometimes treats us to some of her luscious home baking.

Musical Director: Renton Thomson

Renton is a key member of all committee meetings. It is Renton who suggests what music we should perform, makes all the arrangements for guest soloists and instrumentalists, keeps us all enthusiastic, and carries the burden of all our anxious moments. Click here to see more information about Renton.
