Behind the scenes - how Milngavie Choir is organised

There is a lot of work done behind the scenes of any voluntary organisation. Milngavie Choir is no exception.

The Annual General Meeting

The AGM is held in April (the next one is at 7.30 pm on 25th April 2006 in Cairns Church Hall). All choir members are encouraged to go to the AGM and there is normally a very good attendance. It's a chance to reflect on the successes of the past year, to look ahead to next year, to suggest and discuss any problems or new ideas, and to choose next year's committee.

The Committee

The committee meets about once a month. Each section of the choir (sopranos, altos, tenors and basses) has a representative on the committee, so any member of the choir can put any issues or ideas to the committee through their rep.

We have the committee to thank for

• deciding on the programme of events
• organising the concerts (from booking the hall and getting the music to putting out the chairs and laying on the after-concert party!)
• arranging rehearsal space
• raising funds and managing the finances
• promoting the choir and publicising concerts.
